Business Intelligence
This course covers concepts on understanding business organizations' data and how business intelligence (BI) technologies support the over-all business administration. The course shall be emphasizing the applications of business intelligence in support of fact-based decision making. Hence, the course will be allowing students to experience the Business Intelligence process from extracting raw data to its conversion to information through presentation using dashboards and turning it into knowledge/insights through analysis. Further, BI tools and technologies will also be introduced and their impacts on corporate strategies, organization performance, and business competitiveness.
Computer Programming
The course covers the
use of general purpose programming language to solve problems. The emphasis is
to train students to design, implement, test, and debug programs intended to
solve computing problems using fundamental programming constructs.
Capstone Project 2 (IS 4114 )
This course is a continuation of Capstone Project 1, which requires defined system specifications, design and evaluation of the capstone project (as per the approved project title during the title proposal). This leads to a full-blown project that will be presented / defended to a panel of experts and a client.

Professional Issues in IS (1st 2020-21)
In
an era where information technology changes constantly, a thoughtful response
to these rapid changes requires a basic understanding of IT history, an
awareness of current issues, and a familiarity with ethics. This course tries
to introduce a balanced coverage of ethical problems and issues encountered by
computer professionals in today’s environment. This course will cover
provocative issues such as social networking, government surveillance, privacy laws,
computer security and reliability, and intellectual property from all points of
view. Students are asked as they face these challenges to think critically and
draw their own conclusions, which ultimately prepare them to become
responsible, ethical users of future technologies.
Business Process Outsourcing 1
The course provides students with an overview of the outsourcing
industry, including the rationale for outsourcing, critical factors which
affect different outsourcing industries, and the process involved in engaging
in, operating, and maintaining an outsourced service. The course also introduces different tools and
methodologies used in outsourcing operations and provide the students with
opportunities to apply these tools in simulations at a computer
laboratory. The course enables students
to recognize areas of opportunities in outsourcing as well as to analyze and
assess how change in technology, regulation and business environments may
affect current industries. It also
increases the students’ awareness of the different processes critical to
maintaining outsourcing engagements, such as maintaining client relationships
in the context of a service culture, the effective management of costs and
resources and professional communications in writing and oral.
